Wednesday night the Pitt Golden K Kiwanis Club held its awards and initiation of officers annual meeting at Brook Valley Country Club in Greenville, NC. Long-time club secretary, Fred Long, was presented the "2005-06 Kiwanian of the Year Award." And Ernie Taylor became the first recipient of the "Clifton E. Boyd Quiet Kiwanian Award," which was presented by Mrs. Jane Boyd of Silver Spring, Maryland, the widow of Colonel Boyd, USAF and American Airlines Pilot Retired.
The newly elected president is Charles E. "Chuck" Moore, a retired IBM executive. Other 2006-07 officers are J. Reid Hooper, president-elect; Fred Long, secretary; Dan Calhoun, assistant secretary; Michael J. "Mike" Aichinger, treasurer; and W. Elbert Briley, assistant treasurer.
Others installed by Kiwanis Division 17 Lieutenant Governor, Mrs. Terria Baynor of Washington, NC, are members of the board of directors: Edward W. Turcotte and Edward Whitehurst, 3-year term; Gene Plotkin and Ron Stephenson, 2-year term; and Ron Carnighan and Waldo Bair, 1-year term.
Captain James Bruner, USN Retired and East Carolina University associate professor emeritus of criminal justice, will serve on the board as immediate past president.
