7500 Miles for Children

"Original Forrest Gump" Raises Awareness of Child Abuse

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
My name is Louis Figueroa.  I am in the middle of a 7,500 mile walk around
the United States to benefit the National Association to Protect Children.
 www.protect.org

Kiwanis clubs all across the country have been volunteering follow cars
as I make my way through that Kiwanis club area.  I will be coming through
South Carolina on Rt. !7 and connect to Rt 1 in North Carolina.  I am
asking for you help.  If you would please, contact the Lt. Governor's in
the areas I am passing through and ask them to ask their clubs for
volunteers that would follow me in their vehicle as I make way way through
their area.  It's pretty good P.R. and media coverage for the clubs.  I
have also spoken at Governor's Banquets and quite a few clubs through out
the country.  I am coming through or nearby Hilton Head Island, Walterboro,
Sumter, Lake City ,Florence, Sanford, Chapel Hill, Durham,  Oxford, and
 Henderson.

Please, help me save a few children.

Stay Safe,
Louis

After a few rounds of "telephone tag"  Louis and I were finally able to
 speak this evening.

He is a fellow Kiwanian from the Tuscon Arizona Sunshine Club.   He has
been given permission by the DOT to walk along the shoulder of the
interstate highway system during his journey.  Louis is asking Kiwanis Club
members along his walking route to assist by driving a "follow car".

He's willing to speak to Kiwanis Clubs along the way about his mission.
This is a great P/R opportunity as the "news" is picked up by both radio &
TV stations.  Today, WTOC in Savannah, GA interviewed him while he sat in
Forrest Gump's chair!  President Bill Knepp, of the Beaufort, SC Club,
"escorted" Louis over the state border.  theknepps@isic.net
 (h) 843-525-6818 (b) 843-263-6934).  After Louis completes his journey of
7,500 miles he will appear on Oprah's TV show.

Please pass this info on to the clubs along his route.  They can read more
at the website below.  Encourage them to call Louis on his cell:
520-861-3265, and lend a hand.  Also remind them to wear something with the
 Kiwanis logo!

 Thanks for your help.
