AMENDMENTS

The proposed amendment to restructure the district passed.

The District will be in transition for the 2008-09 Kiwanis year.
At next year's District Convention, meetings will be held for divisions to elect their 2009-2010 Lt. Governor and Lt. Governor-Elect.
Divisions will then move into Regional Conferences for clubs to elect their 2009-2010 Trustee to serve on the District Board.

There will be nine regions--three in Eastern NC, three in Western NC and three in SC. Trustees will serve a three-year term.
Three will rotate off each year, providing a consistency in leadership for the district.
Terms will be 1, 2, and 3 years for startup:

The trustee from each area will select a 1, 2 or 3 year term.
If there is no consensus, a drawing will be held to determine which regions, will be 1, 2, and 3 years.
Those elected for 1 and 2 year terms may run for a 3 year term without having to rotate off the Board.
In the event of a vacancy in the board, the Governor will appoint a new trustee from the region until the next convention where a new trustee will be elected to serve out the remaining term.

How does one qualify to become Trustee?
1) They must have served as a Lieutenant Governor
2) They must be an active member in good standing of a club within the region from which he or she is elected; this club shall be the member's primary club.
3) They must have been endorsed as a candidate for Trustee by the candidate's primary club
4) They must have been endorsed as a candidate for Trustee by the candidate's primary division
5) They must be willing to fulfill the Trustee requirements
